Pairing Perfection

A drink of simplicity, brewed from only rice, water, and koji, and with a cultural significance documented in Japan's earliest literature, sake is undeniably the representative beverage of Japan. Though its exact origins are unknown, likely developing soon after the introduction of rice from China in the 3rd-5th century, it soon transformed into a drink imbued with spirituality, offered to both the gods and the emperors. As time passed, sake production techniques developed alongside new technology, proliferating to fill the cups of all classes of citizens, from commoners to monks, and now, in contemporary times, crossing international borders to delight connoisseurs from all different countries. Sake, when expertly paired, can enhance hidden flavors, adding a new intricacy to the meal, or clear the palate in preparation for the next bite. From slices of sashimi to seasonal vegetables, aged cheeses to hearty meats, the pristine profile of sake matches an expansive range of dishes--if you're privy to how to pair them. At this private sake pairing workshop, held in a traditional izakaya, enjoy the comfort of a space reserved entirely for you and the attention of an expert sake sommelier to guide you through a chef-prepared course meal. Indulge in a culinary course that delights the senses and leaves you with a richer knowledge of sake's subtle complexities.
