In Body and Spirit

Enlightenment through action: while other Buddhist sects preach chanting sutras to achieve salvation, Zen Buddhism’s philosophy lies in direct practice. Rooted in mindfulness, simplicity, and disciplined awareness, Zazen meditation teaches practitioners to observe the breath, quiet the mind, and encounter reality exactly as it is. Eating a meal, taking a bath, commuting on the train: each of these quotidian moments becomes an opportunity for Zen practice. At this 300-year-old temple in Tokyo — a rare relic of the Edo period untouched by the destruction of earthquakes, fires, and war—join the head monk in an immersion in silent, sacred contemplation. Open the mind and begin your own personal journey of spiritual awakening in this restorative setting, before concluding with the monk’s warm hospitality over freshly prepared matcha—an invitation to reflect, ask questions, and carry the spirit of Zen beyond the temple walls.
