Meet the master

Yasutaka-san is the sixth-generation master brewer of a centuries-old sake brewery founded in 1826. After traveling extensively across Europe, India, and North Africa in his twenties, Yasutaka returned to take over the family business, bringing a renewed philosophy that respects tradition while innovating for global palates. Renowned for his meticulous, small-batch brewing methods using local rice and mountain spring water, he champions sake as a global ambassador of Japanese culture and craftsmanship.

What you’ll do

Go on a tour of the sake brewery and get a close-up look at the process of making Japan’s ‘drink of the gods’. Then, to the fun part of tasting and comparing several of the brewery’s finest offerings, and learning the nuances of sake’s multidimensional flavors. Indulge in drinking sake while enjoying a light lunch of seasonal offerings.

Sake tasting is only available to those who are 20 years of age (legal drinking age in Japan) and above.

Sake is an alcoholic beverage made from fermented rice that has played a dynamic role in Japanese cuisine and culture for centuries. This clear beverage is served and enjoyed in a variety of settings, everywhere from household meals to celebrations and religious ceremonies. Considered the drink of the gods in the Shinto religion, it is also drunk at festivals and offered to the kami (gods). Sake is made of polished water, and Koji (a product made from steamed rice and mold that converts starch into sugars) and water. At this brewery located near the mountains, only the freshest spring mountain water and high quality rice is used, creating a fantastic arrays of sake.
