Nestled in Nature
Lush vegetation surrounds every side of this protected watershed, a haven where natural beauty transforms with the seasons—from the glassy, frozen waters of winter to the arrival of migratory birds in the spring and the vivid pink blooms of summer. Supported by the Wild Bird Society of Japan, the area is home to a range of wildlife, with 260 bird species spotted roosting throughout the years, including soaring white-tailed eagles, elegant whooper swans, and minuscule Narcissus flycatchers, among others. Guided by a researcher from the nature center, stroll the quiet trails, soaking in the rich biodiversity that thrives here. Whether scanning the sky with binoculars or simply listening to the hum of untouched nature, encounter a deep, peaceful connection to Hokkaido's wild heart.
