A single moment. An eternal memory.
A room near-empty, sparse of lavish decoration. A hanging scroll sits prominently in the tokonoma alcove, the poem composed in its borders depicting falling maple leaves mixing with late autumn rain, a seasonal reflection of the time right before Sapporo's precipitation switches to snow. Next to it, the last blooming flowers of fall are hung artfully from the wall. While tea ceremony has a deep history and embodies countless principles, at its core, it is about the creation of a space - one of harmony, tranquility, and hospitality. Each tea ceremony creates a unique atmosphere for each unique guest, an occasion that can never be repeated entirely the same again, and emphasizes the connection between the host and the attendees. From the selection of wagashi treats served to the chawan tea bowls paired specifically to each participant, precise attention is paid to every single detail. At this tea ceremony school, named by the 18th head priest of a prominent Rinzai Zen Buddhist temple to represent the enduring elegance of pine, bamboo, and plum branches which can withstand even Hokkaido's harsh winters with grace and charm, join a multi-generation family of tea masters for a meditative dive into the culture of tea.
