Mist-enveloped waters

Nestled in the southwestern region of Hokkaido, roughly halfway between Sapporo and Hakodate, Lake Tōya is a pristine caldera lake formed over 100,000 years ago by a powerful volcanic eruption. Surrounded by rugged terrain and lush vegetation, the lake offers breathtaking vistas that shift beautifully with the seasons. Join your expert guide, Yuji, as he gently rows a canoe across these serene waters. With nearly two decades of experience and a deep knowledge of the area’s rich ecosystems, Yuji brings the lake’s natural wonders to life — from delicate alpine flowers to soaring birds of prey. This is more than a canoe tour — it’s an immersion into the timeless beauty of Hokkaido’s volcanic landscapes, guided by someone who knows every curve of the shoreline and every ripple in the lake.
