Going with the Flow
Out in the open waters and amongst the island currents of Hiroshima Bay, many islands dot the horizon, and the nutrient-rich waters support Hiroshima's status as one of Japan's leading oyster-producing regions. These waters are also a gathering place for many fish, seasonal and local, such as rockfish, Japanese anchovy, scorpionfish, black sea bream, and conger eel, which are counted among the Seven Ocean Treasures of Hiroshima Bay, as well as the elusive delicacy, longtooth grouper. Join a local sushi master and restaurant owner who is also an avid fisherman on a morning fishing expedition out on the waters of Hiroshima Bay. Visit prime fishing locations and rise up to the challenge to catch local specialty or seasonal fish, guided by the fisherman chef. In between fishing locations, take in the breathtaking views of the islands that dot the Setouchi Sea area of Hiroshima, and catch a glimpse of the local fishermen at work. Then, after a morning of reeling in your catch, visit the sushi master's restaurant and feast on the authentic flavors of fresh Hiroshima fish, caught by you and prepared to perfection by the sushi master himself.
