Kanazawa Kilns
Rooted in centuries of artistic patronage dating back to Japan’s Edo Period, Kanazawa is a city where craft flourished under the stewardship of the powerful Maeda clan. Gold leaf, geisha culture, and refined artisan traditions shaped its streets—a devotion to artistry that endures today. Within the tranquil grounds of a historic Japanese garden lies a ceramic studio steeped in generations of craftsmanship. Housed in a 300-year-old former katana armory on a former samurai estate, the studio is sustained by its first-generation founder, his son, and a close circle of dedicated disciples, all carrying forward Kanazawa’s creative spirit. While diverging from the region’s emblematic Kutani-yaki tradition, the studio has cultivated its own distinctive aesthetic, rooted in discipline and purposeful design. In this private pottery workshop, dive into Kanazawa’s ceramic heritage and shape your own piece of iconic Kanazawa craftsmanship.
